Which PowerFlex series to specify
Compact machine drives — 523, 525, 527
For drives up to 22 kW mounted in the same panel as the motor load, the 523/525/527 range covers most machine-level duty. The 523 is the economy option (V/Hz, no comms), 525 adds EtherNet/IP and Safe Torque Off, and 527 is CIP Motion for tight integration with CompactLogix and ControlLogix Kinetix servo architectures.
Architecture-class drives — 753, 755
For process duty, larger motors, and standalone drive applications, the 753 (general purpose) and 755 (premium, with DeviceLogix and optional safety SIL-3) cover 0.75 kW to 250 kW. Both integrate natively into Studio 5000 via EtherNet/IP and support PowerFlex 755T/TS frame styles for higher kW ratings.
PowerFlex integration with CompactLogix and ControlLogix
Every PowerFlex drive ships with factory-set EDS files recognised by Studio 5000 Logix Designer from v24 onwards. AOPs (Add-On Profiles) for each drive series are available free from Rockwell Automation. Drives appear natively in the Logix I/O Configuration tree, with commanded speed, actual speed, fault word, and I/O status mapped into controller tags without custom Modbus parsing.
Safe Torque Off (STO) and safety integration
PowerFlex 525, 527, 753, and 755 include Safe Torque Off (STO) as a standard feature, certified to SIL-3 per IEC 61800-5-2 and PLe per ISO 13849. In a GuardLogix architecture, STO wires to a safety-output module (1734-OB8S, 1756-OB16S) and triggers directly from the safety task — no intermediary safety relay required.
Parallel import and Australian warranty
We source genuine Rockwell PowerFlex drives through authorised international distributors and deliver to Australia with full Rockwell manufacturer warranty. Part numbers are identical to the Rockwell AU channel — same firmware revisions, same AOPs, same Studio 5000 compatibility. If your project needs local-distributor contract wrap (FOC replacements, extended terms), we’ll tell you and refer you to the Rockwell AU channel. For most panel-build and integration work, parallel import is the better route.
