Installation & Calibration Notes
Screw the probe into a 1/2″ NPT boss and the M12 cable onto the connector hand-tight. Terminate the RS485 trunk with a 120 ohm resistor at each end. Power on and query default slave ID 0x01 at 9600 bps 8N1.

What M12 cable do I need?
Any M12 5-pin A-coded cable with twisted pairs. InstroDirect stocks 2 m, 5 m, and 10 m variants. Generic industrial M12 cables from Phoenix Contact, Turck, or Murr will also work.
Can I daisy-chain multiple sensors?
Yes — up to 32 sensors on a single RS485 Modbus RTU trunk. Each probe is individually addressable (slave ID configurable 1–247).
Does it work with Ethernet-based PLCs?
Yes via a Modbus TCP gateway (Advantech EKI-1221, Moxa MGate, or similar). One gateway can serve all 32 probes on the trunk.
