Product details
High-Pressure Alkali pH Electrode — 13 bar, 130°C, Full 0–14 pH
The InstroDirect IDH-J605-HP High-Pressure Alkali pH Electrode – 130°C, 13 bar is a high-pressure, high-temperature alkali-stable pH electrode rated for 13 bar process pressure and 130 °C continuous operation across the full 0–14 pH range. Designed for demanding high-pressure alkali processes — caustic scrubbing, bauxite refining, pulp & paper kraft process, and high-pressure boiler blowdown.

Typical Australian Applications
- Bauxite refining (Bayer process)
- Pulp & paper kraft caustic
- High-pressure caustic scrubbing
- Boiler blowdown pH monitoring
- Sodium aluminate processing
- Glass industry silicate process
Why Engineers Choose the IDH-J605-HP
- 13 bar rating is well above standard 6–10 bar electrodes
- Alkali-stable glass resists the “alkaline error” that biases standard electrodes above pH 12
- Pressure-equalised reference prevents pressure-driven electrolyte loss
- Only a handful of suppliers offer this pressure/temperature class in Australia — typical lead times from E+H or HACH are 6–10 weeks
Installation & Calibration
Install via a retractable armature assembly for safe insertion/removal under pressure. Use a pressure-rated process connection (not standard NPT).
Frequently Asked Questions
What is “alkaline error”?
Above pH ~12, sodium ions interfere with the glass bulb electrochemistry, biasing readings low by 0.1–0.5 pH. Alkali-stable glass formulation (used in this electrode) reduces alkaline error to < 0.05 pH even at pH 14.
Australian Technical Support & On-Site Calibration
- Australian field engineers with 20+ years of industrial automation experience — phone and email support during AEST business hours.
- On-site pH calibration service across QLD, NSW, VIC — two-point buffer calibration (pH 4 / 7 / 10) with formal calibration certificate.
- Sensor health diagnostics — slope, offset, glass impedance, and reference junction checks.
- Replacement electrodes and buffer solutions available from InstroDirect’s broader water-analysis range.
Why InstroDirect vs Endress+Hauser or HACH in Australia
InstroDirect supplies the same grade of pH sensor that Australian councils, WWTP integrators, pharma plants, and food & beverage operators specify from Endress+Hauser (CPS11D, CPS31D, CPS41D, CPS71D) and HACH (pHD, Differential pH) — at a significantly lower landed cost and without vendor lock-in.
| Factor | InstroDirect | Endress+Hauser / HACH |
|---|---|---|
| Digital protocol | Open RS485 Modbus RTU — integrates with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, Beckhoff, or any SCADA | Proprietary Memosens / HACH SC — locked to the vendor’s transmitter |
| Technical support | Australian field engineers with 20+ years automation experience | Offshore ticket queue or authorised distributor |
| On-site calibration | InstroDirect service across QLD, NSW, VIC with formal certificate | Third-party authorised service network, longer turnaround |
| Price | Parallel-import, no distributor margin stack — typically 30–50% below equivalent E+H / HACH pricing | Premium brand with distributor markup |
| Replacement parts | Standard glass-bulb and reference cartridges | Proprietary Memosens head, tied to the brand |
Moving away from Memosens or SC digital protocols frees you to mix and match sensors with any Modbus-capable transmitter or PLC. InstroDirect pH electrodes drop straight into an existing control system without a new proprietary transmitter.
